Barbara and Alex Mann purchased their first RE/MAX Realty Consultants franchise in July of 2006. Over the next 5 years they acquired RE/MAX Realty Consultants in Winston-Salem. Barbara brought extensive real estate experience as a top producing agent and management expertise from running a large, high producing real estate team. Alex, a licensed real estate broker with extensive experience in all types of property management, brought a detailed knowledge of back-end processes necessary to efficiently run a real estate firm.

Their primary reason for opening a brokerage was they wanted to do things differently than they had been accustomed to. This was not going to be a corporate feeling place to work, with managers in an ivory tower making decisions with no knowledge of the local market and local office dynamics. They also made a short-term goal to become the top RE/MAX firm in the area by providing an office where top producing agents as well as those who wished to become top producers could grow and prosper. Agent training was and still is a big part of the success of RE/MAX Realty Consultants agents. Agent education is an ongoing priority, with class offerings on everything from technology, to goal setting, marketing, file management, and entrepreneurial systems.

Barbara and Alex’s sons, Mark, Brian and Josh came up through the ranks to take on important positions in the Management of RE/MAX Realty Consultants, and in 2017 ownership was transferred over to them, with Barbara and Alex remaining on as Senior Partners, still actively involved in running the firm.

Brian, the visionary of the firm, is the Chief Executive Officer.

Mark is the Chief Operations Officer and the managing broker for the Greensboro office.

Josh is the Vice President of Finance for the firm. He is also involved in managing a sister firm, Jefferson Capital Mortgage.

When Barbara & Alex opened the first office in 2006, they started with 12 seasoned agents and 1 fulltime employee. Today, the firm has grown to over 60 agents and 4 fulltime employees, with plans for explosive growth. From the beginning, agent training has been the driving force behind the success of RE/MAX Realty Consultants agents.

Seeing the need for a hands-on place for newly licensed agents to learn the real-world nuts and bolts of real estate, the RE/MAX Realty Consultants Success Academy was opened in 2015 for those new agents looking for the fast track to success and independence. The Academy offers intense training and one-on-one mentoring as well as small group classes focused on building and growing their businesses. Agents spend one year in the academy.

Ongoing agent education is a top priority for all agents- seasoned as well as those new to the business- with class offerings on everything from technology, to goal setting, marketing, file management, and entrepreneurial systems.

Today, RE/MAX Realty Consultants is laying the groundwork for expansion, with new and exciting opportunities for agents and employees alike.
